During this session the plan was to Watch the Movie - On A Quest - Which is a film on  the life of our Gurudev - Swami Chinmananda. A must watch for all Chinmaya mission members and balavihar students.   However the session was cancelled due to weather conditions. The Sunday session did get to watch the full movie as planned as there was no weather interuptions.

Guru Parampara and Vegetarianism

Today's session was  Special topic with the intent to educate the youths about  our Chinmaya Mission Gurus. We talked about the importance and the essence of Guru Parampara and discussed in particular  the Gurus related to Chinmaya mission.

We also had one of our Senior Class students - Aditya Kaushik - Who  after some brief introduction about himself,  engaged the class on a discussion on Vegetarianism.  There was some very active participation from everyone in the class. Thanks to Aditya for this engaging discussion.

Our Sastras and Back to Balavihar night.

The topic we covered  in this session are as follows:

We started the topic of Sastras and in particular covered the meaning of Shruthi and Smrithi as it pertains  to our sastras.  We started the discussion on Manu Smriti and Sanatana Dharma. This is covered in good detail in chapter 10 of our Hindu Culture book.

We also had a the Back to Balavihar Night this day and thus got an opportunity meet with some of the parents and update them of the progress.

The Thanksgiving gift baskets were made by the 9th graders today.  Thank you, Shankar, Sangita and Raghav for being there today to guide the children.  We had many other volunteers, adults and children alike, who jumped in and made it a fun, festive event!  Thanks to Nirmala and Rajan for guiding us through the project.

We have made about 60 bags today.  We may have more donations coming in later in the day, so a couple of us are going to come tomorrow morning and make additional bags before the trucks come for picking up.
